Back already

Unfortunately that was the fastest four weeks of my life and I am now back on deck.  A big thank you to my Assistant Simon and the crew for their endeavours over what must have been a frustrating time with the constant rainfall.

Most of the West greens were verti drain aerated again today to help the water move through the profile and add some more air as detailed in previous posts and will be finished tomorrow.  This will be the last chance to get on the greens with a busy golfing month ahead that includes both the Ladies and Men's Club Championships.  With the lack of growth at this time of year it is difficult to do too much with the courses and it is even more important for players to respect the golf courses and assist by using sand buckets and repairing pitch marks on the greens.

We were lucky enough to spend some time in Spain on our holiday and were in the country for the untimely death of Seve Ballesteros.   Despite Seve fighting a brain tumour for a few years I just assumed that one of the greatest fighters on the golf course would also win his battle off the golf course.  There was a great deal of coverage for the legendary player and it's amazing to think he was just 22 when he won the 79 Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St Annes where he played that amazing shot from the carpark at the 16th to make birdie.  Vale Seve.
